4 - HANDLING EQUIPMENT FOR BURYING MACHINES (OPTIONAL)

This equipment was specifically installed on the barge for the requirements of the IFA 2000 work. The barge serves as a surface support vessel for two 54-ton burying machines, used alternatively and each carrying two pilots.

This equipment is owned by EDF and must be removed before delivery of the barge.

Given the stability of the barge, this equipment permits normal use of the machine in prevailing summer weather conditions in the English Channel,
I.e.:
wind <27 kts
swell <2.5 m
wave interval 5 to 7 s

Exceptional recovery of the machines may be considered in less favourable conditions (3 m swell, for example).

The dimensions of the gantry also allow possible recovery of the burying machine (8.7 x 4.95 x 4.4 m) whatever its position.

This handling equipment is composed principally of:

4.1 GANTRY

- Two pros in the shape of an inverted U bolted to two sills welded to the deck.
One of the U is angled outboard, and the other towards the centre of the barge.
These two U are connected at the top by two cross-ties and braced to the deck by a third.

- A walkway supporting two power drums, 2 m in diameter and each stocking 150 m of 90 mm umbilical.

- Roller slopes and pulleys for reeling of umbilicals.

4.2 LIFTING SYSTEM

- Double hydraulic capstan:

- 84 t at 15 m/mm
- 115 t brake

- Breech-tackle winding-drum joined to the double capstan to stock 150 m of breech-tackle
- Nylon dia 144 mm breech-tackle - tensile strength 420 t
- Fame : CMU 54 t BV 03/95
- Table CMU 54 t

4.3 TRANSFER TRAY

- Two raisable beams articulated to the gantry sills with a treadway extending
10 m portside of the barge.

- A 110 m² lattice metal tray supported by 4 rollers and driven by chains and a hydraulic motor.

- This tray allows transfer of a burying machine for the vertical of the gantry to its garage position on the deck

4.4 ORLOP DECK

 - A 330 m² orlop deck aft of the gantry (one the startboard side) raised 1 m above the main deck, forming a garage and servicing area for the burying machines on the same level as the transfer tray.

4.5 HYDRAULIC POWER PLANTS

- Two 20' containers set on the deck supply power for all the hydraulic and electrical functions.
- Capstan power unit :

electrical cabinets and two independant hydraulic power units of 210 KW a piece.
- Auxiliary power unit :
electrical cabinets and two independant hydraulic power units of 45 KW a piece.

4.6 HYDRAULIC WINCHES WITH HYDRAULIC POWER PACK

 Pull 3,3 t 4 layer

4.7 PNEUMATIC WINCHES

- 1 / 1200 kg (LUCAS)
- 1 BEEBE winch 6,8 t at 9,15 m/mn 6 layer
- 2 SAMIIA 3 t
